The Curiosity Approach – A modern-day teaching philosophy fueled by a passion for play, a love of nature, and an understanding that the child is the true curriculum. An approach that inspires awe and wonder in all those who engage with it.
The Curiosity Approach was founded by Lyndsey Hellyn and Stephanie Bennett, long-serving teachers, and nursery leaders who created this beautiful practice based on the work of multiple early years pioneers, such as Maria Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Rudolf Steiner, and Emmi Pikler.
The core teaching of The Curiosity Approach is the significance and benefit of moving away from over-stimulating technology and plastic toys, and instead focusing on the wonders of the natural world and authentic, open-ended resources. A toy car will always only ever be a toy car, but a stick however – with a dash of imagination, this seemingly mundane stick can be transformed into a magic wand, a microphone, or a witches broom!
