The beginning was a journey of immense love for Arabic calligraphy. I started exploring this majestic world, learning it by all possible means, using special notebooks available back then. I was gradually delving and immersing into this beautiful, ancient art, which has a rich history of over 2000 years.
I practiced calligraphy for many years, and specialized in two styles: Qirawani Kufi and Masahif Kufi. However, in 2015, I started writing wavy names in a free style that evolved from the Sunbali and Wisam styles.
My writings on paper eventually saw daylight as I transformed them into a three dimensional sculpture, crafted with precious gold. That was, and still is, the most valuable piece I have ever made.
Many around me got my idea and encouraged me to work on it. So, in 2016, I founded a jewelry trade mark. My jewelry brand is inspired from Arabic calligraphy and Islamic Arabesque. In 2017, I chose the name MIDAD for my jewelry brand, which means INK, as Allah says in the Holy Qur’an: “Say, “If the sea were ink for [writing] the words of my Lord…”
So here I am, converting my passion for Arabic calligraphy into unique pieces that can be acquired by special people like you. I am creating pieces that are worthy not only for the metal from which they are made, but also for the idea and art behind it.
